A Revision and Some Questions

Wed Jun 18, 2008, 10:03 AM
I never was any good at maintaining this sort of thing. Especially not when I'm busy, and I've been writing enough over the last months to give anyone a bit of tedonitis.

I added a revision to the prologue of Fate, one that I did with some advice from another author. I've also done the first chapter, which I haven't posted yet, and have been dragging my feet on doing the rest (but I will, because I can't help myself).

So, I wanted to pose a couple of questions to the artists here. Just out of curiosity, shall we say.

First of all, imagine you had agreed to illustrate an eBook for a longtime friend of yours. You had a thesis project due in May, so you couldn't start until after that was done, but your friend had no problem with this. They only asked that you let them know ASAP if for some reason you'd be unable to do it after all.

Now, would you then string this friend along for four months, sucking up time they could be using to find another artist, and then finally inform them that you couldn't do it after all? Or would you tell them right away?

Secondly, imagine you did really well with your paintings for your thesis. They sold well, so well that you wouldn't necessarily need to get a job right away, or worry about internships or making any connections in the art world. Would you still try to get a job or an internship, or would it be more important to you?

Really, I mourn the loss of my friend more than my artist. But either way, it all totally sucks.
